Charging Carts

A charging cart or cabinet stores and charges a fleet of devices — the standard answer for schools, training rooms, warehouses and any organisation handing out laptops or tablets daily.

What to check, in order:

Capacity and device size. A cart states how many devices it holds and the maximum size of each. A cabinet rated for tablets will not take 15in laptops, and thick gaming or rugged machines take more slot depth than the figure suggests.

Charging type. Older carts supply mains sockets for each device’s own charger, which is flexible but means storing the bricks. Newer units supply USB-C Power Delivery directly, which is far tidier — check the wattage per port, because a cabinet delivering 18W per port will charge tablets fine and laptops very slowly.

Power management. Better units stagger the charging in sequence rather than drawing everything at once, which avoids tripping a circuit.

Security and mobility. Lockable doors, and castors with brakes if it moves between rooms.

The range covers Kensington, Acer and Ergotron, along with replacement charging cables.
