60Hz is the baseline refresh rate, and for document work, spreadsheets, email, web browsing and video it is completely adequate — film and most streaming is 24 or 30 frames a second anyway.

If you are not gaming, the money saved on refresh rate is better spent on things you will notice every day: resolution (QHD or 4K makes text visibly crisper than Full HD), panel type (IPS gives wider viewing angles and more consistent colour than VA), and connectivity.

That last one is where this range is strongest. Several models here carry USB-C with power delivery, so a laptop connects with one cable that also charges it — the ASUS BE24ECSNK adds a webcam and dock, and Samsung’s ViewFinity S8 includes a KVM switch. There are touchscreen models from Hannspree, portable 14in panels from Dell, and Samsung Smart Monitors that run streaming apps with no PC attached.

If you play fast games, look at 100Hz or 144Hz instead.

60Hz Monitors Buying Guide and FAQ

This 60Hz Monitors range groups screens by refresh rate. Below are the common questions on what 60Hz gives you.

Is a 60Hz monitor worth it?

A higher refresh rate means smoother motion. 60Hz is the basic standard, fine for office work but bettered by 100Hz and up for games.

Can my PC reach 60Hz?

You only feel the benefit if your graphics card can push frames near 60Hz in the games you play. Fast esports titles reach high frame rates easily, while demanding games at high resolution need a strong GPU. Match the refresh rate to what your PC can deliver.

Do I need variable refresh with a 60Hz screen?

Yes, G-Sync or FreeSync keeps motion tear-free by syncing the screen to your graphics card, and it is worth having on any gaming monitor. Most modern high-refresh screens include it, so check the spec lists FreeSync or G-Sync support.
