Dell’s monitor model codes are unusually informative once you know the first letter.
E series is the basic office panel — Full HD, tilt-only stand, the cheapest way to put a working screen on a desk.
P series is the volume business range and the one most offices standardise on: Full HD to 4K, IPS panels, and a full height, tilt, swivel and pivot stand as standard. The DE and QE variants add USB-C docking, so one cable carries video, network, USB and laptop charging.
UltraSharp (U series) is the professional tier — wider colour coverage, higher resolutions up to 5K and 6K, ultrawide and 49in dual-QHD models, built-in KVM switches, and the QD-OLED panels.
Alienware (AW) is the gaming line, with high refresh rates and QD-OLED.
If you dock a laptop every day, the USB-C models are the ones worth paying for; if you only need a second screen, the E or P series does the job.
Dell Monitors Buying Guide and FAQ
This Dell Monitors range covers Dell products. Below are the common questions.
Are Dell monitors any good?
Dell is a well-regarded name in monitors, with a range that spans budget to high-end. The best model depends on your needs and budget, so compare the key specs rather than choosing on the badge alone.
Which Dell model should I choose?
Start with what you need from your monitors, then pick the Dell model whose features and price fit. If you want help comparing, our monitors guide explains what to look for.
What should I check before buying?
Match the key specs to your setup and budget, check compatibility with your other parts or devices, and look at the warranty. The right Dell product is the one that fits your needs, not just the most expensive.
