What does 80 Plus Gold mean?

80 Plus measures how efficiently a PSU turns wall power into clean power for your PC, which affects heat and running costs. Gold is the popular sweet spot for quality and value. For most gaming builds, a reputable 80 Plus Gold unit is the popular choice.

Is an 80 Plus Gold PSU worth it?

Gold is worth it for most people, balancing efficiency, build quality and price. Either way, brand reputation and the warranty matter as much as the badge.

What wattage should I choose at this rating?

Pick the wattage around your graphics card: roughly 650 to 750W for mid-range, 850 to 1000W for high-end, and 1000W and up for the very top cards. Make sure the unit has the right connectors, including a 12V-2x6 plug for current Nvidia cards, and leave a little headroom.
