Alienware Monitors

Alienware is Dell’s gaming brand, and its monitors have a strong reputation — they were among the first to bring QD-OLED to the desktop and the range has stayed near the front since.

The decision here is panel type.

IPS models such as the AW2726DL give accurate colour, wide viewing angles and high refresh rates at a considerably lower price. For most gaming, and for a screen that also does daytime work, they are the sensible choice.

QD-OLED models such as the AW2725D give true black, near-instant pixel response and no backlight glow in dark scenes. The difference in dark scenes and in motion clarity is genuinely visible. The trade is price, and the need to use the built-in pixel-shift and refresh routines and avoid leaving a static taskbar on screen all day.

VA curved models at 31.5in and 34in sit between the two, with deep contrast and strong immersion.

Sizes run 27in QHD through 34in ultrawide, all at 240Hz.
