Seagate Expansion STKM4000400 4TB External HDD Black

Seagate Expansion STKM4000400 | 4TB Portable HDD

The Seagate Expansion STKM4000400 external hard drive 4 TB Black offers a straightforward storage solution for users needing extra capacity. This compact drive targets professionals and students who require reliable, portable backup for documents, media, and project files. Its primary USP is the plug-and-play simplicity, removing the need for complex setup or external power sources. Because it connects via a standard USB interface, it integrates easily with existing desktop or laptop workflows.

Slim 2.5″ Form Factor for Mobility

This drive utilises a 2.5″ HDD form factor, keeping physical dimensions minimal. Measuring just 80 mm wide, 115.3 mm high, and 20.9 mm deep, it fits easily into a laptop bag or pocket. Weighing only 257 g, it adds negligible bulk to your travel kit. So, you can carry 4 TB of data without the burden of heavy equipment.

High-Speed USB 3.2 Gen 1 Connectivity

The unit features a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (formerly USB 3.0) interface for efficient data transfers. This standard offers significantly faster speeds than older USB 2.0 connections, provided you use a compatible port. However, the drive does not support Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or Thunderbolt technology. Consequently, you must connect via the physical USB cable to access your files.

Cross-Platform Compatibility

This external drive supports both Windows and Mac operating systems straight out of the box. The drive is pre-formatted for immediate use, though you may need to reformat it for full read/write access between both operating systems. Because it draws power directly from the USB port, there is no need for a separate mains adapter. This feature enhances portability and reduces cable clutter on your desk.

Simple Drag-and-Drop Backup

Data management is designed to be intuitive. There is no proprietary software to install; the drive appears as a standard volume in your file explorer. You simply drag files and drop them onto the drive icon. In practice, this makes backing up large media libraries or project folders as easy as moving files between folders on your internal drive.
