DisplayPort to HDMI Cables

For a graphics card or laptop that has DisplayPort while the screen only takes HDMI. The range includes full-size DisplayPort to HDMI leads, Mini DisplayPort versions for older laptops, and short adapter tails for use with an HDMI cable you already own.

Direction matters here and it catches people out. A passive DisplayPort to HDMI lead converts one way only, from a DisplayPort source to an HDMI display, because the conversion is done by the graphics output rather than by the cable. Plugging one in backwards, from an HDMI source into a DisplayPort monitor, does nothing at all — that job needs an active converter with its own chip.

Most of these are rated for 4K, some at the 4096×2160 cinema resolution rather than 3840×2160. Lengths run from 0.15m adapter tails up to 3m. Brands are StarTech, Lindy, Cables Direct, Hama and Prevo.
