Samsung Galaxy Book

Galaxy Book is Samsung’s Windows laptop range, and its distinguishing feature is the same one that distinguishes Samsung’s phones and televisions: the display. Several models use AMOLED panels, which give deep black, high contrast and colour saturation that a standard laptop LCD cannot match, in thin, light chassis.

The naming runs Galaxy Book with a generation number, then Pro and Ultra for the higher tiers, and 360 for convertibles whose screens fold back into tablet mode.

The genuine extra, if you already own Samsung hardware, is the ecosystem: linking a Galaxy phone so calls, messages and files appear on the laptop, and using a Galaxy Tab as a second screen. If you are in that ecosystem it is a real day-to-day convenience. If not, it counts for nothing and the machine should be judged on its own merits.

Not to be confused with Samsung’s Galaxy Chromebook line, which runs ChromeOS rather than Windows and cannot run Windows software.
