Fractal Design Cooling

Fractal Design’s cooling range is built to the same restrained standard as its cases, and most of it is fans.

Dynamic is the quiet-focused line, using rifle-bearing designs rated for long life at low noise. Aspect is the value range. Both come in 120mm and 140mm, and in reverse-blade versions — useful when a fan needs to blow the opposite way to normal, which happens in dual-chamber cases and on some radiator mounts.

When choosing, match the fan to its position: static pressure designs for radiators, dense heatsinks and restrictive mesh, airflow designs for open positions like a rear exhaust. Using the wrong type is a common reason a case with plenty of fans still runs warm.

A 140mm fan moves the same air as a 120mm at a lower speed, which usually means less noise — fit the largest your case accepts.

PWM models let the motherboard vary speed with temperature, which is what keeps a machine quiet at idle.
