Intel Cooling
These are Intel’s own processor coolers — the Laminar range that ships with many boxed Core processors, sold separately here for builds using a tray processor or a replacement.
Be realistic about what a stock cooler is for. It is designed to keep the processor within its thermal limits at its rated power, and it does that. On a 65W part used for office work, browsing and light applications it is perfectly adequate and there is no reason to spend more.
Where it runs out is sustained load. Under a long render, compile or gaming session, a stock cooler will let the processor reach its thermal limit and reduce clocks to stay there — and it will be audible while doing it. A tower air cooler costing very little more will hold higher clocks and be considerably quieter.
If your processor is a K-series part or you plan to run it hard, budget for a proper cooler from the start.
See CPU air coolers for tower and low-profile options.
