CIT Power Supplies

CiT power supplies sit at the value end, and the range includes both standard ATX units and TFX ones.

That TFX point is worth knowing. TFX is the small, narrow format used by slim horizontal desktop cases and small office machines. When one of those supplies fails, a standard ATX unit physically will not fit, and a TFX replacement is the only option — a fact that catches people out regularly.

Where these units belong: an office desktop, a thin client, a point-of-sale terminal, a basic home PC with integrated graphics or a modest card, or a straightforward replacement. Bronze-certified models have been tested to a recognised efficiency standard.

Where to spend more, plainly: any build with a current discrete graphics card. Modern GPUs draw brief spikes far above their rated power, and a basic supply can read those as a fault and shut the machine down under load despite adequate wattage on paper. Those builds want an ATX 3.0 or 3.1 unit.

Check the physical format against your case before ordering — ATX, SFX and TFX are not interchangeable.

CIT Power Supplies Buying Guide and FAQ

This CIT Power Supplies range groups units by this feature. Below are the common questions.

What does modular mean on a power supply?

A modular PSU has this feature. It is a useful feature to look for when matching a unit to a modern build.

Do I need a modular power supply?

It depends on your case: SFX units are for small-form-factor builds, while a normal tower takes a standard ATX unit. Match the feature to your parts and case.

What wattage and rating should I pair with it?

Choose wattage around your graphics card, roughly 650 to 750W for mid-range and 850W and up for high-end, and aim for a reputable 80 Plus Gold unit. That combination suits most gaming PCs.
