ASUS ROG

Republic of Gamers is the ASUS gaming range, and the sub-brand tells you what the machine is built to do.

Strix is the mainstream gaming line — thicker chassis, more cooling, and therefore the highest sustained graphics performance for the money. If the laptop lives on a desk, this is the one that performs best.

Zephyrus is the thin-and-light gaming line. The G14 and G16 are among the few machines that are genuinely portable and genuinely fast, with excellent displays. The trade is that a slimmer chassis cannot sustain the same graphics power as a Strix with the same card.

Flow is the convertible range, with screens that fold or detach.

Across all of them, the specification that varies most between similar-looking models is the graphics power limit — two laptops with the same GPU can differ noticeably, and where ASUS publishes the figure it is more informative than the card name.
