MSI Cooling

MSI’s cooling range is built to sit alongside its motherboards and cases, and the naming follows the same tiers.

MAG CoreLiquid is the mainstream all-in-one liquid cooler line, in 240mm and 360mm radiator sizes, with ARGB versions. MPG and MEG CoreLiquid step up, the MEG models adding an integrated display on the pump head. CoreFrozr is the air cooler line.

The practical advantage of staying within one brand is Mystic Light — fans, cooler, motherboard and memory lighting controlled from one piece of software rather than three, which is more of a relief than it sounds once a build has several lit components.

Before choosing a liquid cooler, check your case’s radiator mounting points: a 360mm radiator needs three fan positions in a row, which not every mid tower has. Before choosing an air cooler, check the height clearance and that it will not foul tall memory modules.

On fans, fit the largest size the case accepts — a 140mm fan moves the same air at a lower speed than a 120mm, which is quieter.
