TP-Link Tapo Solar-Powered Security Camera Kit 1 × C425, 1 × A201

Critical Specifications

Flexible Solar Power Setup

The included A201 solar panel connects via a 4-metre cable. This allows you to position the camera in shade while the panel sits in direct sunlight. The 10,000 mAh battery buffers power for cloudy days. In practice, this reduces maintenance compared to standard battery cameras. You can also combine the units for a compact look.

2K QHD Clarity and Wide View

The camera captures 1.7× more pixels than 1080p. This provides sharper video and readable details. A 150° wide-angle lens covers large areas with fewer blind spots. Because it uses a progressive scan CMOS sensor, motion appears smooth at 30 fps. This is useful for identifying faces or licence plates.

Full-Colour Night Vision

Built-in spotlights and a starlight sensor deliver full-colour images in low light. You do not rely on black-and-white IR footage. The 850 nm IR LED provides additional coverage up to 15 metres. So, you get clear visibility day and night without external lighting.

Free AI Motion Detection

The camera uses onboard AI to distinguish people, pets, and vehicles. This reduces false alerts from moving trees or rain. You receive targeted notifications via the Tapo app. Because AI processing happens locally, it is fast and private.

Secure Local Storage

The camera features a MicroSD card slot supporting up to 512 GB. It records video directly to the card without cloud dependency. It supports H.264 compression for efficient storage use. However, it does not include an Ethernet port; Wi-Fi is the only connectivity. The maximum Wi-Fi data rate is 72.2 Mbit/s.
